The Queen of Geek Culture (Felicia Day)

Felicia Day joins Brent Spiner and Jonathan Frakes for a wildly fun, funny, and surprisingly deep conversation about building a career by making your own lane, long before that was the norm. They talk about Firefly, The Guild, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Supernatural, The Librarians, Leverage…

Sean Astin Directs The Extras
On The Librarians, Sean Astin played a lead magician with an audience and helpers, and he took it upon himself, in character, to direct all the people working for him. Jonathan says he could have objected that directing was his job, but instead he saw it as a gift and let Sean have that whole corner of the set. Felicia adds that Sean goes the distance and loves to analyze, almost method in the way he dives in.
“I thought, what a gift. He's got that whole part of the set.”
Same Ballet Company, Same Verse
Felicia and Summer Glau were both homeschooled and danced together in the San Antonio Concerto Ballet Company while Felicia's father was stationed at Lackland Air Force Base. Years later they bumped into each other at an audition, where Summer said she had just moved to Los Angeles to act, and they agreed to connect but never did. Then Felicia got Buffy and Summer got Firefly, putting them in the same circle anyway.
“But then I got Buffy and she got Firefly. So we were in the same verse.”
