Terry Matalas Was Told Go Away Kid When He Asked to Run Star Trek Picard
When Terry Matalas first walked into Alex Kurtzman's company, the show about bringing Jean Luc Picard back was already spoken for, and he was politely told to go away, kid. He ended up running Star Trek Picard season three anyway, and on Dropping Names he tells Brent and Jonny how it came together…

Jonathan Frakes was with Patrick Stewart in the Santa Ynez Valley before the new series had a confirmed title. When he asked if one had been settled on, Patrick told him it was Picard, and Jonathan pointed out that was his character's name, not a title. The Star Trek part, the hosts joke, was added to the front of it later.

Christopher Lloyd Shaves His Eyebrows
On 12 Monkeys, Tom Noonan refused to trim his famously thick eyebrows for his role. Christopher Lloyd, cast as his father through the show's time travel, arrived on day one and announced he wanted to go the other way entirely, shaving his off on the spot. Terry Matalas decided he was in no position to argue.
